What happens when we die?

die, death, sky, sea, horizon, thoughts

Death is a funny old bugger, isn't it? Everyone is scared of dying for various reasons, and I get it. I really do. It's the fear of the unknown, asking "What happens when we die?" It's the fear of your loved ones hurting because of you and it is the fear of heaven and hell. But I'm not scared of dying.
It sounds so stupid because I've been worrying about my health lately - fretting I'm going to have a heart attack and die but it's not death itself that I'm scared of. I'm scared of not pursuing everything I wish to do before I do die. I don't think people truly grasp 'death' like we all know we're going to die but if you think a little harder it's like
OH MY GOD IN 100 YEARS THERE WILL BE A COMPLETELY NEW SET OF PEOPLE ON THIS EARTH how fucking crazy is that?! So what happens when we die?

I believe that we're all souls, imprisoned in walking, talking bodies so when we die our souls are released back into the universe. I personally don't think there's a heaven or a hell, I believe that yes, you do see your life flash before your eyes in those last waking seconds and I think THAT determines your afterlife - if you have lived a superlative life then your soul will be forever joyous, but if you've lived a degenerate life, your soul will be forever desolate.

When I imagine my soul when I die, I see it as a deep purple ball of energy, floating through the earth with all the other colourful balls of energy, adding to the atmosphere. Yanno, like that van Gogh's 'Starry Night' painting with the swirls? Yeah I think he was on to something there
I think when we pop our clogs, that's when we truly start appreciating the world and it's magic 'cause we don't have the inconvenience of man-made worries such as bills, the government, what I'm gunna eat for dinner tonight cause lol I can't have pizza for the 5th time this week.

This is why I believe in cremation over being buried, so your soul can leave your body through the smoke of the fire. I believe that we have a set purpose in life and once we die, we can help the new set of people find their way through this funny thing called life.

What are your thoughts on what happens when we die?

  1. I love the image of your soul being this wispy ball of energy, particularly imaging it billowing up from a body like smoke and coming together to raw essence. Mmm. I dig it. Anywho, I have similar thoughts to yours. I don't so much fear dying as I do not having the chance to live as fully as I can. I want to experience cultures, food, the way the body moves, and human behaviors. There is so much in this life that can be missed. Lovely post, babe. XOXO

    1. Thank you! :) I think you should write a post on your views if they're quite similar to mine, I'd love to hear/read it! xx
