3 ways you can live a happier life

3 ways you can live a happier life, life, happy, happiness, flowers, floral

If you've read my blog a lot you know I'm all about them positive vibes and trying to live the best life possible even if i just wanna curl up in a blanket and cry sometimes.

It's only natural to strive for happiness and to live a happier life. But sometimes I think we fail to remember that happiness is just another emotion, just like sadness, anger, jealousy and excitement. Happiness comes and goes like the sea hitting the shore. But you can always implement things into your life to make sure you have more good days than bad. Little things, things you wouldn't even think would make a difference but they do.

So here are my 3 ways you can live a happier life:

Appreciate the little things:

Starting with a cliche to get it out of the way. Appreciate the little things, it's obvious but it's SO TRUE. Be more observant in life. Notice the way the wind tickles your neck and the softness of flowers petals. Pay attention to the birds singing a beautiful tune high in the sky and the goodness of people's hearts all around you. Appreciate the compliments you receive and the tiny gestures people do for you, even if it's just a stranger holding the door open for you: recognise it and be grateful.

Do what you want to do:

Okay, this one might seem obvious but I'm sure ALL of you have done one thing in your life that you've not really wanted to do. I'm not trying to sound like a spoiled brat or anything but I just don't see the logic of doing something you don't want to do? Like you might come at me saying "oh but that's just life honey, sometimes you gotta suck it up and do something you don't wanna" but I say fuck that. If I do something I don't want to, then I'm obviously not going to be happy doing so, resulting in bringing everyone else down to my negative level, and that's not really helping anyone is it. I'm not saying avoid things because you're scared or can't be arsed to get off yo' lazy ass, I'm saying if something doesn't bring you ANY JOY AT ALL then why on earth would you do it?

Be the person you want to meet:

I'm not saying look more like Kylie Jenner or whoever you idol is, I'm not saying dress like them or speak like them, what I'm saying is, be the person you want to meet. Personally, I'd love to only come across people who have kindness in their hearts, compassion consuming their soul and love oozing out of their fingertips. Be that person. Be the person who does good, who's nice to everyone they meet and brushes the little annoying things strangers do to one side and goes about their day as happy as larry. If you want to live a happier life, you gotta bring happiness to other people too. Help the old lady down the street, help the struggling mum carry her bags, buy the homeless dude a big fat meal. Give to the universe what you want to get out of it. Be a good person and good things will happen.

  1. Yaaaasssss gurl!! Love it, I love inspiring posts like these they make me want to become a more positive person, it really motivates me!! I love the idea of taking everything in, standing in your surroundings and taking in the sights, smells, etc. I want to be happier, and live a more positive life, not caring what other people think of me, and just focusing on being a nice person to those around me!

    1. Thanks Becky! I love that it motivates you :D
Yeah I love walking down the the beach, sitting on the sand and staring wistfully out at sea breathing in the sea air and acknowledging all of the beauty around me. You should definitely try it if you haven't already!
I hope you achieve your happy, positive life - the only place to start is here and now xx

  2. I'm so glad I found your blog, absolutely in love with your posts! I couldn't agree more with the first thing you've mentioned since 'enjoy the little things in life' is one of my favourite phrases ever :) Something I try to do to make my life happier is accepting things I can't change & trying to make the best out of every situation x

  3. This post is happiness in itself! Enjoying the little things is what I think I'm best at, and every time someone does an act of kindness (my mum brought me peonies the other day for no apparent reason) I appreciate it and find mounds of joy in it. I think it's better not to expect anything from anyone, as what you are actually going to get will more than likely disappoint you. I actually did a post on this today, about treasuring the little things. I'll link it below. Your blog never fails to make me smile, and I thank you for that. :)

    1. Aw thank you lovely! Aw that was very kind of your mother! I kind of agree, though I think maybe rather than looking with expectation/not looking with expectation, look with understanding: understand that people are humans just like you and I, they are trying their best and sometimes they mess up, sometimes they are selfish (as are we) but we should still open our mind and our heart towards them (sorry that sounds totally hippy dippy lol) I will deffo take a look at your post lovely!

  4. I absolutely love this post. These are some great tips for living a happier life! I'm definitely trying to work on appreciating the smaller things. It's so easy to get caught up in all the negatives but there are beautiful moments that we should be focusing our attention on instead!

  5. These are really good tips! I love the first one, because there's so many things we don't appreciate and that we take for granted and it's usually the little things that make a difference. I should write these down so I can remember them.
