Just a little new year catch up

So I feel I've never really sat down and written a 'chatty' type post: I feel all of my posts are written how I speak anyway but I feel they've all had a steady plan of a start, middle and end - a focus and a point in a sense. But today I think I'll just waffle on about the first month of 2017 and let you into my more personal life rather than just my thoughts or childhood stories.

It's currently 6:25pm and I am freezing. I was meant to watch La La Land today with a friend but her period arrived and left her bed bound which was lame but still okay because I was with another friend getting coffee beforehand anyway so we just went and looked at prams because she's pregnant(!) - I've known her since she was 11 so it's pretty crazy to think she's going to have a baby but it's also dead nice because I think she'd be a good mum. Funnily enough, we became friends by talking about dummies 'cause we're super cool like that obvs. I'm feeling good about life right now. I've had a couple of 'off' days but that's because I've literally done nothing: no writing, no reading, just wasted the entire day in bed scrolling through social media and watching Netflix but overall, 2017 has been pretty fucking good.

We're going to London on the weekend to see Avenged Sevenfold and they've literally just announced that they're doing a meet and greet in their pop-up shop in Camden on Monday which Shane said that we can go to before we go to all the museums. I literally think I'll cry if I meet the band because omg heart-eyed emoji! I'm also super excited to go to all the museums because I absolutely love learning and I love that I'll absorb information that I wouldn't usually seek and then if something really catches my attention I can look deeper into it. Museums are just full of interesting shit and they just fascinate me! I'll probably drag Shane to some insta-worthy cafes for lunch too and get some cute ~arty~ photos.

I was meant to spend this month writing posts up for next month because I plan to take a step away from technology in February to focus on getting to know myself without any distractions, but instead I've gallivanted around, had shit to sort out and haven't really had the motivation to write anything, which is sad but just how it is. I'm still going to have my month away from technology: I'm limiting myself to half hour in the morning and an hour at night - it was originally only meant to be half hour per day but 'cause I've not got anything scheduled I'm going to have to spend more time online to post stuff on the blog, which brings me to my next point. I'm going to be taking myself out on dates and hopefully doing/seeing cool shit, going to cosy cafe's and sitting by the sea alone writing and creating really bad pieces of art. I'll be posting about those things when they happen, meaning my blog schedule (Monday: Thoughtful/Opinion based posts, Wednesday: Self-care/List posts, & Friday: Personal/Lifestyle posts) will be non-existent for February, instead it will literally be a scrapbook/diary which I think actually sounds pretty decent as long as I'm doing cool, interesting stuff which provides me ~half~ decent content for you guys! I'm actually super excited to just spend a month by the sea/in cute cafes, writing, drawing and just.. being. I think it'll be interesting to see what I discover about myself and how my perception may change on things.

This month has flown by super quick and it feels like it's been hectic because we came back from Wales later than expected and then had to settle back into routine, which, granted has taken me like 2 weeks because I just wasn't ready to give up warm blankets and hot chocolate for work and early mornings again -you feel? But after we're back from London, I'll be ready to do a shit ton of reading, writing and painting to share with you guys and I'll be able to work on my new Magazine which is launching in March (another post explaining all will be coming atcha soon!)

I'm cold and my tea's probably freezing, so I'm going to go fill my hot water bottle up and make another brew then settle down with my new Maya Angelou book which omg is amazing - I read her 'Letters to my daughter' book and I am HOOKED - I knew Maya was a famous writer and poet and loved her 'Still I rise' poem but never felt I should read more of her stuff but then I got a voucher for Waterstones and it was just there infront of my and something compelled my to buy it, so I did, and now I'm going to spend a fortune buying her 7-piece autobiography set but also, I feel it'll definitely be worth it!

I hope you've enjoyed reading this style post - if you have, let me know and I'll do more!

How's January 2017 been for you guys?

  2. It's so good to hear that your year is going pretty great so far, I hope it will get even better! :) I've been stepping away from technology throughout January too and believe me, it's super beneficial! I haven't felt that inspired in a while! Also, I hope you'll enjoy your me time and the dates with yourself - sounds like an amazing idea to me. I really want to start doing that kind of stuff on my own more often too, I mean I love being on my own but my personality sometimes holds me back from going somewhere on my own if that makes sense. Sending you all the positive vibes for February and all the other months to come, I can't wait to see your content x

  3. It's been far too cold recently, it's difficult to sit down and concentrate on blogging because you need to crank the heating immediately - and *then* you just wanna have a nap

  4. Oh that sounds like an exciting project. I'm sure I wouldn't survive without technology. But I've been feeling so out of touch with myself lately so I might as well give this a try in February when I'm on wellness vacation.
